The Rapid Decline of Whitebark Pine and How We Can Rescue It
Retired Kootenai NF forester, Mike Giesey, is a board member of the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation. Mike will discuss all things Whitebark Pine from how to identify them to where they grow, their unique relationship with the Clark’s nutcracker, the challenges they face with a changing climate, and how the National Whitebark Pine Restoration Plan can save this tree. Mike will also explain how ski areas are also working to protect and restore this magnificent tree.
Meeting Location: Venture Inn Restaurant (Fireside Room) in Libby
What Time: 5:30-6pm meet and greet, Self serve chili and corn bread at 6pm, 6:30 pm presentation
This will be a chili feed prepared by Libby Chapter of SAF members. Cost is $10 a head. Proceeds go to the chapter scholarship fund. Invite a friend to attend.
